The partnership, which started in 2017, will see both parties continue collaborating on initiatives that ‘blur the line between virtual and real-world racing.’ Logitech and McLaren will host the Logitech McLaren G Challenge as part of the extension. In this sim racing event, drivers will compete for prizes, including opportunities to meet the team’s drivers.
Since 2017, Logitech has assisted McLaren’s sim racing efforts and supported the McLaren Shadow project during a successful 2022 season. That year, the team won the driver’s and constructors championships for the F1 Esports series.
Sim racing continues to attract non-endemic brands into the world of esports. In February 2024, race car manufacturer Dallara partnered with gaming PC manufacturer AK Informatica to launch a joint venture based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
For Logitech G, 2024 is a year of extensions. In February 2024, it extended its deal with McLaren Racing and secured a multi-year extension with Danish esports organization Astralis.
Matt Dennington, Co-chief Commercial Officer at McLaren Racing, spoke on the extension: “Sim racing continues to go from strength to strength.
“We’re thrilled to be extending our partnership with Logitech and continue to create a strong experience both for our McLaren Shadow Team and the more than 100,000 competitors who have participated in the Logitech McLaren G Challenge to date.”

Fernando Alonso’s last season has been brilliant, with ups and downs due to the lengthy period encompassing these 23 races throughout the year, and lifting a team like Aston Martin from the depths to nearly achieving completely unexpected successes at times.
So much so, that the Oviedo native came very close to achieving the coveted 33rd victory in Formula 1. At least, on the Spanish language side, Carlos Sainz Jr and Checo Pérez have given us joy when the greens have not lived up to expectations.
Now that the season is over, it’s time for relaxation and simulation. To continue refining aim at home, with the tools we have. Over time, Fernando has been changing his cockpit due to various sponsors or commitments. Now he has made two new acquisitions that he has shown on his Instagram account.
We’ll see where he drops next, in which simulator, and with which cars we can see him, as he has always liked the early-year endurance races, such as the 24 Hours of Daytona organized by iRacing.
We don’t know which cockpit Fernando currently uses, but the last one we heard of was an Allinsport cockpit, albeit with some commercial elements. In the new photos from his Instagram account, we can see that he has changed two fundamental elements: the steering wheel (and base) and the pedals.
The pedals are now Heusinkveld Ultimate+ Pedals, replacing the old handmade ones he had. The Simagic FX Pro Steering Wheel is presumably paired with the Simagic Alpha Ultimate base, as it is the most comfortable way to use it.
The screen is a Samsung 49-inch one that we have talked about here on other occasions, which allows total compatibility with other PC titles, enabling configuring a wide view without struggling with triples or losing performance as a result.
The cockpit and seat are also from Allinsport, but it’s nothing you’ll miss if you take a look at our cockpit section.
The simulator comes with installed bodyshakers that allow for greater immersion and fidelity with what would happen on a real track. From our tests, we recommend using the Next Level Racing HF8 mat.
